Junior Fair Committee

Junior Fair Committee

Kimberton Fair recently rolled out an exciting opportunity to cultivate the future generations – a Junior Fair Committee!

These enthusiastic local youth will play a key role in planning, organizing, and promoting various events and activities during the fair. This is a wonderful chance for them to develop leadership skills, collaborate with peers, and give back to the community while having fun and making lasting memories.

The first meeting was held on March 31 with five enthusiastic young individuals who are passionate about supporting and shaping the future of the fair.

Junior Fair Committee members will:

  • Help organize fair events and activities
  • Assist with marketing and outreach
  • Serve as liaisons to the Fair’s Board of Directors
  • Contribute new ideas to enhance the fair experience for all ages

The Fair invites young people ages 13-18 who have an interest in community service, event planning, agriculture, or simply want to be a part of something special.

For more information, contact the Junior Fair Committee Coordinator Lindsey Kritzberger at Kritzlrk@gmail.com .

We are excited to see the energy and creativity that the next generation can bring to the Kimberton Community Fair and make it an even more amazing event.

Queen at Manavon School 2024-03

FAIR ROYALTY TRAVELS TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Kimberton Fair Queen Melissa visited over 115 first grade students at Manavon Elementary School to read the PA Friends of Agriculture Foundation‘s 2024 Ag Literacy Week book – Anywhere Farm. This book helps young learners understand that a farm can be anywhere and something as simple as a single seed can help you begin!

Ag Literacy Week was held March 18 through March 22. Many volunteers from communities across the state visited classrooms and other student groups to read the book and talk about local farming. Nearly 2,000 books were presented in classrooms in Pennsylvania this year.

Ag Literacy Week connects volunteers from the agricultural community to local classrooms to share the story of agriculture. Readers who participate in Ag Literacy Week have the opportunity to talk about farming and agriculture through the book they read as well as sharing their own story about farming, agriculture programs they are involved with or their connections to agriculture.

After their reading events, the community members donate the book and educational activities to the classroom to be used throughout the year and with future classes.

The Manavon students enjoyed reading with Queen Melissa and afterwards took part in a seed planting activity to start their own Anywhere Farm!

Fair Royalty Visits Local Turkey Farm

We are thankful to Howe Turkey Farm for giving our Fair Royalty a tour of their local farm-to-table operation.  They are a proud third-generation family farm located in Downingtown, Chester County dedicated solely to raising over 4,500 turkeys from July through November.  They work morning ‘til night making sure the turkeys are healthy and well-cared for.  In their words, “When you taste our turkey, you’re tasting the heart of our farm – the heart of a farmer’s life.”  Check out their website to learn more about how this family farm’s story.

The Royalty Program focuses on promoting Kimberton Community Fair and local agriculture. It provides each participant the opportunity to build and enhance her personal development including confidence, poise, presentation and public speaking skills, and knowledge about their community and Chester County’s $600 million-dollar agricultural industries.

More tours and activities are being planned! So if you know of a young lady aged 8 – 20 who would love to join in, send an email to kimbertonqueen@gmail.com for more information.
